The main reason I went on this family cruise was that we were stopping in Mexico to visit the Mayan ruins at Tulum. Located right along the coastline, it's an enormous city of buildings, walls and walkways built out of the local whiteish/gray limestone. The crowds limited my photo opportunities a bit, but this turned out to be a nice place to get aquatinted with the Mayan way of life.
At the 2nd port of call on our cruise, we found ourselves in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Since I listen to a lot of Bob and other assorted Reggae, I was interested to checkout the beauty of the island. We went on a tour of Dunns River Falls. It's more like raging rapids rather than a waterfall. Either way people are crazy enough to walk upstream for over an 1/8 of a mile. I just hope the sticky is on the outside of the shoes.
The island of Grand Cayman must be the sweetest place to live in the Caribbean. I cannot say enough about much I like this stop. In the morning I went to a place called "Hell". In this area the ocean has receded back to leave brackish pools of water with moon-like coral structures protruding out of the ground. I then spent the afternoon kiaking around the island and snorkeling with some salt water sea life.
For our X-mas cruise we sailed on Princess Cruise Line's Grand Princess. At the time this was the largest cruise ship afloat. It wasn't really aparent until we were in port with other ships... ours towered over them. There were a good amount of activities onboard, although I would have probably enjoyed a younger cruiseline with more people around my age. I did explore most of the ship... and even discovered a pod of dolphins swimming along with us.
